Rams already interested in extending Cooks

For the second straight offseason, wide receiver Brandin Cooks has been traded for a first-round pick. This time, it’s the New England Patriots sending him to the Los Angeles Rams along with a fourth-round pick in exchange for the Rams’ first- and sixth-round picks.

The Rams traded for Cooks knowing he was on the last year of his rookie deal. You’ll remember that Cooks was a part of that insane 2014 wide receiver class.

And according to Patriots reporter Jeff Howe, the Rams have already looked into giving Cooks an extension beyond 2018.

“The Rams have already expressed interest in extending Cooks’ contract. No guarantee it happens depending how strongly Cooks wants to hit free agency next offseason,” Howe tweets.

He’ll be competing with Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods for targets and Tom Brady isn’t throwing him the ball anymore, but rather Jared Goff. Cooks value very well could be highest right now as opposed to coming off a quiet season with the Rams (if that ends up being the case).
