Cowboys to cut Dez

There have been rumors swirling for a while now that the Dallas Cowboys would release Dez Bryant. Once a dominant receiver, he’s no longer a true No. 1 and will cost $12.5 million this year and $16.5 against the cap.

The only reason they wouldn’t move on from him is because the cupboard is pretty bare at the position.

However, Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports says that, regardless, the Cowboys will indeed move on from Bryant.

“The #Cowboys will cut Dez Bryant, after the draft, but make no mistake — they will cut him,” Schultz tweets.

Sounds pretty definitive. The Cowboys signed Allen Hurns and while he’s a nice player, he doesn’t exactly solve the problem and let you relax about losing Dez. The Cowboys need to address the position early (and possibly often) in the draft.

After that, they can release the 29-year old and get some cap savings. And headache savings.
