Lynch takes pay cut to stay with Raiders

There were plenty of rumors this offseason that Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch wouldn’t be back with the team after an okay season in 2017. But, it seems like he’ll stay in Oakland after he agreed to take a pay cut. Too bad the team will be in Las Vegas! Joke’s on you, Marshawn!

But, seriously, he did agree to take less money so he could remain with the Silver and Black. Tom Pelissero has the deets.

“#Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch restructured his contract Saturday before his $1M roster bonus was due. Base value in 2018 is now $5.5M — $500K less than before — but he’s practically guaranteed $4.5M of that (instead of $0) … and can earn up to $9.25M total with incentives,” Pelissero tweets.

Thank god for 280 characters!

Lynch will be expected to be the lead back again this year, only this time with former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Doug Martin backing him up. If the Raiders can boost their secondary and fine wide receivers that can actually catch (Jordy Nelson can), they should be good this year.
