Lions give up on Ebron

The Detroit Lions were never really happy with their first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Tight end Eric Ebron struggled with drops early and while he did get better over the last few year, he was never worth the 10th-overall pick. Especially since Taylor Lewan, Odell Beckham, Jr., and Aaron Donald got picked in the three slots after him.

Well, according to Adam Schefter, the Lions are ridding themselves of this problem. They are dumping Ebron, making him a free agent.

“After failing to find a trade partner for him, Lions are releasing former first-round pick Eric Ebron, per source. Another TE hits the market,” Schefter tweets.

Ebron was due $8 million when the new league year starts and don’t nobody want to be paying that. The Lions definitely tried to find a trade partner for him, but in this situation, that just means that they were planning on cutting him the whole time. They’d have have taken a box of Duke footballs for him.
