Off the Record (OTR)

Reuben, are you dragging your girlfriend?

We mentioned yesterday that San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested for domestic violence and having assault rifles recently. It’s not a good situation.

But, now we’re seeing more details emerge. We knew that he was arrested for domestic violence, but we didn’t know much about it.

Well, according to the San Jose Mercury News, Foster dragged his girlfriend during a fight. Many would agree that’s inappropriate and illegal.

The domestic-violence arrest of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster stemmed from his girlfriend’s accusation that he physically dragged her during an argument at a Los Gatos home Sunday morning, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The reported victim, who has been in a relationship with Foster for several years, also told police dispatchers during a 911 call that he owned multiple semiautomatic rifles, according to an archived recording. Officers ended up recovering one firearm, a SIG Sauer 516 short-barreled rifle, sources said.

The encounter left the woman injured, sources said, but the extent of her injuries was not disclosed.

This isn’t good. There is a reason (actually several) that Foster dropped so far in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He had personality problems and they worried about him staying healthy. He’s already been banged up and now we’re learning why there were issues with him as a person.

Foster is going to be facing major discipline from the NFL and the Niners can’t be thrilled with their choice in last year’s draft.
