Fultz may miss the season

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who watched Philadelphia 76ers rookie Markelle Fultz shoot a basketball in the last year or so. His shoulder is all sorts of messed up and at first, it was sitting out three games, then he’s out indefinitely, then he’s progressing well, to now he could return soon, but he might be out the whole year.

The mismanagement of this kid has been stunning.

Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo said on Friday that he’s close to returning unless he’s not, in which case he won’t play again this year.

“There’s always a chance that he’s going to be out there soon, and there’s a chance that he’s not gonna play this year,” Colangelo said. “I can’t answer that question because we don’t know the answer to that.”

Sooooo, there’s no real update.

This is coming from a team that shut down several of their recent first-round picks for a year or more, even if some didn’t think they had to. Ben Simmons sat all year, Nerlens Noel missed his whole rookie season and Joel Embiid missed all of his first two seasons in the NBA. So, why try to force Fultz to play through something that obviously bothered him so much that his shot changed?

Makes no sense. Good job, Sixers!
