Dolphins replacing Tannehill?

The Miami Dolphins had quite the crap show at the quarterback position this year. Starter Ryan Tannehill went down for the entire year with a knee injury, which obviously didn’t bode well for the season.

But, in order to avoid throwing the entire year in the toilet, the Dolphins went out and signed Jay Cutler to a one-year deal. Cutler promptly showed up and helped throw the entire year in the toilet, valiantly leading the Phins to a 6-10 record.

So, where do the Dolphins go from here? Tannehill is due a non-guaranteed $17.8 million next year (or something resembling that). Do they stick with Tannehill? Draft a quarterback high and give him the reigns?

Well, regardless of what they do with Tannehill, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald writes that the Dolphins are open to taking a quarterback in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft.

“The Dolphins want to draft a quarterback in April. They’re even open to taking one in the first round, if he is the best player on their board,” Beasley writes.

Doesn’t sound like they are sold on Tannehill as their franchise quarterback, even though they paid him like one. Tannehill will have to rebound in a big way to convince the Dolphins brass that he can be their guy.

That is, if he’s still on the roster come March.
