Would Manziel impact the CFL?

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. A first-round pick in 2014, he’s since flamed out of the league for not really being good enough at football to overcome all of his drug, domestic and substance abuse problems.

Supposedly, he’s getting his life in order and trying to get back into football. You’ll notice that no one in the NFL has cared, so of course we’re now hearing about the CFL. The ball is now in the court of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to work out a fair deal by January 31st.

I’m sure he could help and probably generate interest, but I doubt he’d have much impact on the CFL playoffs since the Tiger-Cats were 6-12 last year and generally awful. If you’re going to do some CFL betting, that should be taken into consideration.

I’m a little shocked that the CFL hasn’t been brought up sooner, although I’m sure he wasn’t entirely open to the idea since he would be holding out hope of returning to the NFL. That’s why you’re supposed to take it seriously when you get the chance. He blew it in the NFL because he was more important than everyone else and now no one wants him.

Truthfully, if he goes to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and is just insane off-the-charts incredible, he’ll get another shot with an NFL team (probably with the Cleveland Browns!). If he goes up there and thoroughly bombs, then it will just confirm to NFL teams what they already knew: He’s just not very good.
