Dolphins cut Maxwell

The Miami Dolphins discovered what most of the rest of the football world already knew: Byron Maxwell is not a very good cornerback who looked great in Seattle with three other all-world members of the secondary.

The Philadelphia Eagles gave Maxwell big money a few years ago and then sent him to Miami in a trade that let them move up to No. 7 in the NFL Draft in 2016. It only took them one year to realize their mistake.

That’s roughly how long it took Miami. They just cut him, according to Adam Schefter.

“Dolphins released CB Byron Maxwell today, per source. Expected to have a market,” Schefter tweeted.

In a corresponding move, they sign quarterback David Fales.

Maxwell hasn’t played since week 3 with a hamstring injury, but he apparently fell out of favor with the coaching staff once they found out he’s not very good at football. Some cornerback needy team will add him for depth.
