Off the Record (OTR)

Olsen out 6-8 weeks

The Carolina Panthers are 2-0, but they really seem like a bad football team. Maybe not awful like the New York Jets or anything like that, but they just don’t look good. They barely beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and their offense took a major hit in the process.

Tight end Greg Olsen busted his foot and it’s pretty bad.

“Panthers TE Greg Olsen will undergo surgery on his broken right foot and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, per @mortreport,” tweets Adam Schefter.

Wow, that’s a long time to miss. This is not an offense that can afford to lose a playmaker of Olson’s ability. Chris Mortensen says that the team has not decided whether or not to shelve him on I.R.

“Team will decide after surgery whether Olsen will go on IR with expectation to return later in season, per source,” Mort tweets.

This is bad news for the Panthers. It’s great that they are off to a 2-0 start, but I’m thinking this season is going to get tougher and tougher as the weather gets colder.
