Chiefs lose Berry for the season

The Kansas City Chiefs got a big win Thursday night as they slowly and methodically choked out the New England Patriots right in their own stadium. It was a great game until the Chiefs decided it was time to stomp them 42-27.

But, what they lost could be much worse. Ian Rapoport says that all-world safety Eric Berry is out for the year.

“#Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirms the fears: Star safety Eric Berry is done for the season with a ruptured Achilles,” Rapoport tweets.

This hurts. Badly. Bigly.

Berry was a stud covering Rob Gronkowski on Thursday night and it’s clear why he’s so valuable to the defense. He’s been All Pro a couple of times (way more important than saying “Pro Bowler”), he can cover, he can hit…yeah this sucks.

Daniel Sorenson is the leading candidate to replace Berry. The good thing (if there is a good thing) is that he did it early in the season so you’d hope he’ll be back and ready for 2018.
