Eagles release Marcus Smith

The move no sense at the time. The Philadelphia Eagles used the 26th-overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft to take Louisville defensive end Marcus Smith.

We didn’t know who he was at the time and we still don’t really. In three seasons with the Eagles, he barely sniffed the field and recorded just four sacks. The Eagles apparently noticed that he wasn’t very good because they released him today.

This saves them from paying the $594,000 roster bonus and overall they’ll save $1.5 million. This move was expected for some time now as he just hasn’t been able to contribute.

The Chip Kelly draft pick just turned 25-years old and will probably get a chance elsewhere.
