Simmons playing 5-on-5

It’s pretty tiring constantly talking about injury news of the young Philadelphia 76ers. I wrote yesterday about Markelle Fultz’s recent ankle injury sidelining him for 1-2 weeks.

And now we’re hearing about last year’s No. 1-overall draft pick in the NBA Draft, Ben Simmons. Simmons missed all of last year with right foot surgery and it’s assumed he’ll be back for opening night.

He said in a recent ESPN interview that he’s resumed playing 5-on-5 ball. He also said that head coach Brett Brown “wants to start [Simmons] at the point.”

Of course, we’ll see what happens as they just drafted point guard Markelle Fultz. That could end up being situational or maybe they are both on the court together and switch it up. Who knows?

Brown did say recently that it would be “very ambitious” to start the season with Simmons playing and not on a minutes limit. The Sixers aren’t afraid to limit someone’s minutes that’s for sure.
