McDavid breaks the bank

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid was billed as a generational talent when he entered the NHL last year. So far, he’s delivered on that hype.

McDavid won the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Trophy in just his second season. The dude is a monster.

Apparently, the Oilers noticed because, according to TSN, they just backed the Brinks truck up to McDavid’s house.

“BREAKING: Edmonton Oilers and C Connor McDavid agree to 8-year, $100M extension tsn.ca/1.797155 #TSNHockey,” TSN tweets.

The best thing is that the deal was reportedly supposed to be for a total of $106 million, but it was reduced at McDavid’s request. He didn’t want to completely blow up the cap and wanted to make sure they’d have resources to build a team around him. Love it!

If Toronto gave him this deal he’d be able to afford a posh studio apartment within the city limits.
