Nola stays hot

Philadelphia Phillies young prospect Aaron Nola has had a rough calendar year. Last season, he needed Tommy John surgery and, believe it or not, he wasn’t thrilled about it.

He had a rough go early this season and it was fair to wonder whether the bloom was coming off of his rose. Well, it doesn’t seem like it.

Nola had a great June and has looked like his old self. And on Monday, he kept it going.

Nola mowed down the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 4-0 win, dealing seven scoreless innings, spreading four hits, striking out eight and walking one. It was a brilliant performance and one Phillies fans need to see as they watch so many other young prospects flail in the wind.

Nola got his ERA down to 3.73 and looks to be returning to what the locals expected of him.
