Flyers send Schenn to Blues

During the summer of 2011, the Philadelphia Flyers decided to gut the core of their roster. Within four hours of each other, Mike Richards and Jeff Carter were sent packing.

In return for Richards, the Flyers received forwards Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn from the Los Angeles Kings. Schenn was the centerpiece.

That didn’t last long! It soon became clear that Simmonds was the superior player, but that doesn’t mean Schenn has been bad; last year he had 25 goals.

Well, it wasn’t enough to keep him around. It’s NHL Draft night and the Flyers just sent him to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for the 27th-overall pick, Jori Lehtera and a conditional 2018 first-round pick.

Schenn was supposed to be a star, but it’s not happening. But, he’s a decent support player who will help the Blues fill out their roster.
