Matt Jones would like you to cut him

The Washington Redskins drafted Matt Jones in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the starter heading into the 2016 season and, quite honestly, I was excited to have him on my fantasy bench.

Then, he fumbled three times in seven games, which is a lot in today’s game. It’s not 1984 anymore when Eric Dickerson can fumble 14 times and they call it a historic season. Those days are long gone. So, Jones’ days are numbered and he knows it and they’ve even told him they don’t want him.

So, naturally, his agent Hadley Englehard (that has to be a made up name) has asked the team to release him asap.

Englehard said that he “asked very politely” for him to be cut because “he has no future there.”

Engelehard has been surprised that the team would continue to hold on to him. It’s likely that they are holding out for some trade that will never happen

“Let’s move on,” Engelhard said. “We’re hoping Bruce sees the light and does the gentleman thing and release Matt.”

Jones himself is a bit confused as to what he’s doing every day at practice.

“As far as now I’m on the team, I’m going to work like I’m on the team and play like I’m on the team,” Jones said. “As far as my career goes, I still don’t know, but as far as I’m on the Redskins’ roster, that’s what I’m going to do is come and compete.”

I sure hope he doesn’t get hurt at practice. He could be a nice player if he can hold onto the ball. Not sure why, but I feel like the Ravens will grab him when the Redskins cut him.
