Griffin to start for Seattle?

Seattle Seahawks cornerback DeShawn Shead is recovering from an ACL injury, which leaves a glaring hole opposite Richard Sherman. Imagine what the secondary would look like if the Seahawks traded Sherman considering Earl Thomas is coming back from a nasty injury too.

But, he’s still there and the current question is who will start on the right side. According to Sheil Kapadia, rookie CB Shaq Griffin will be given an opportunity.

Takeaways from the first day of Seahawks rookie camp: 1. Shaquill Griffin will get a look at right cornerback. That spot is wide open with DeShawn Shead rehabbing from an injury. Griffin has a chance to start as a rookie, but he said the scheme – and specifically playing press – is different from what he did in college.

It will be an important position to monitor for the Seahawks as that back four has been the strength of that nasty defense for years.
