Broncos add Charles on one-year deal

There were some big names on the free agent running back market this year. We waited for quite some time to see where Adrian Peterson would land, and he finally stopped in New Orleans on a modest contract with no guarantee that he’ll even start.

Similarly, we’ve been waiting to see where former Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles would land. Well, now we know. According to Adam Schefter, Charles will most likely rent an apartment in Denver.

“Broncos and Jamaal Charles now have agreed to terms, per source,” Schefter tweets.

It looks like it’s a $1 million base salary, with another $2.75 million to be earned in incentives. It’s not clear how difficult those incentives are to earn.

Charles is 30-years old now and played in just eight games in the last two years. He’s been an incredible back in this league, but it’s not known how much he has left in the tank.
