Jaylon Smith ready for OTAs?

I’ve been trying to keep everyone posted on the saga of Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith for a while now. It’s terrible that the guy went from high first-round pick to a huge question mark in a single bowl game.

Smith shredded his knee in his final game at Norte Dame two years ago and it left his playing career in doubt. It was bad.

But, the Cowboys used a second-round pick on him and still have high hopes. Owner Jerry Jones said recently that after missing all of last year, Smith should be ready for offseason workouts.

“When you look at how we improve our defense over last year, him and (fourth-rounder Charles) Tapper both, as we all know, were high picks for us that didn’t contribute last year,” Jones said. “We certainly have high hopes for both of those guys and feel like they’re going to be ready to go here when OTAs and minicamp start.”

That could be a huge addition for Dallas. Of course, we don’t know how good he’ll be at this point, but what if he returned to form? That would be a huge win for the Cowboys’ defense.
