Duh, Rams exercise option on Donald
- Updated: April 12, 2017
Remember when the Los Angeles Rams (then St. Louis) got all of those picks in the Robert Griffin III draft day deal with the Washington Redskins? Remember when they pretty much urinated them all away?
Well, lucky for them, they got one of their own draft picks right. Like, really right. They had the 13-overall pick in the NFL Draft in 2014 and used it on Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Since then, the guy has been an absolute monster. Maybe even the best defensive player in all of football. When you have someone like that disrupting the middle of an offense on just about ever play, it’s devastating.
So, it makes perfect sense that the Rams moved so quickly to exercise his fifth-year option.
“Source: the Rams have exercised the 2018 5th-year option worth $6.892M on DT Aaron Donald. First team to officially exercise its option,” tweets Field Yates.
The bigger question is how he performs in new defensive coordinator Wade Philips’ 3-4 defense. Donald has been a tackle in a 4-3 his entire pro career.
