Agholor to see more special teams?
- Updated: March 29, 2017
What do you do with a former first-round pick who is now buried on the depth chart? Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor was given every opportunity to be a starter last year after being a first rounder in 2015. It, umm…didn’t work. Agholor can run a bit and get open, but he just can’t catch the ball. That could be seen by some as a problem.
So, what do you do? Well, he’s got to do something. And with the additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torry Smith, he’s pushed down the depth chart to fourth at best. He could slide behind Paul Turner if things don’t go right in minicamp.
Zach Berman says that head coach Doug Pederson said that we can probably look to see Agholor more on special teams.
“Re: Agholor — Pederson said Agholor could take on a role on special teams. …Agholor spoke at end of last year about being a kick returner,” Berman tweets.
I guess he could return kicks. You don’t really draft a guy in the first round to be a kick returner, but at this point they are just trying to make him useful.
