Kaepernick wants to start
- Updated: March 28, 2017
There certainly is a lot of talk about former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Of course, you’ll surely remember that all season he took a knee during the National Anthem in protest to the way people of color are treated in this country. And of course, people flipped out despite the fact that this is the exact way these people yell at black people to protest all time. Don’t be violent, don’t break stuff, don’t loot, don’t block traffic, be peaceful, etc.
So, right now, Kap is without a team. He’s a free agent and everyone is speculating that it’s because either he’s not that good, or teams don’t want to be distracted, or he’s being blackballed, or blah blah blah. It’s anyone’s guess and I doubt you’d find tangible odds if you did some online betting at SportsBetting.ag. It’s all speculation.
Maybe one reason he’s not signed at the moment is because he hasn’t found a situation he likes yet. You realize it does take two people to come to an agreement. The fact that he isn’t signed doesn’t mean that it’s because no one wants him.
According to ESPN, Kap would like a chance to start and to be paid the salary of a super high-end backup.
Further, we know from multiple sources that Kaepernick isn’t just looking for any job. Two people to whom I spoke last week say he’s looking for a place that offers him a chance to compete for a starting job and a salary befitting a high-end backup quarterback or a low-end starter. Think something like $9 million to $10 million.
So, it might have absolutely nothing to do with his National Anthem protests. Maybe he’s just trying to find the right fit. Maybe he’s best to wait until after the NFL Draft and see what the market looks like then. After all, we know he’s just going to end up in Cleveland.
