Sixers being “super cautious” with Okafor

Jahlil Okafor has missed the past two games with a sore knee for the Philadelphia 76ers. I wonder at what point the Sixers should start to worry that he keeps having knee issues. He’s now missed nine games this year and that’s with him on a pitch count.

Okafor, however, says not to worry. He said the team is just being “super cautious” with him at this point and not rushing him into playing.

“If we were like on the verge of trying to get a playoff spot or something like that, I could go out there and play,” Okafor said. “But Coach Brown and all of our people behind the scenes don’t believe it’s necessary for me to play if my knee is feeling sore and stuff like that.”

Right, it’s easier to tank and get a better draft pick by him not playing. That might be why they were so quick to shut down Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. They know they could use another season that ends with a high draft pick.

It’s fine anyway, because it’s giving Richaun Holmes a chance to play and he actually looks like he could be an excellent backup player in the future.
