Manziel coming back?
- Updated: March 23, 2017
Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel didn’t do a ton to show that he belongs in the NFL in his short stint as a player. Off the field, he was a complete disaster, getting hammered seemingly all day every day. On the field, he was okay, but didn’t have the jaw-dropping talent to make other teams roll the dice on him.
Is there a chance he could be inching towards a return? According to Ian Rapoport, Manziel actually met with the New Orleans Saints to talk about coming back to the NFL.
“Sources: #Saints coach Sean Payton & Johnny Manziel were spotted together Super Bowl week, at breakfast. They discussed a return to football,” Rapoport tweets.
While this is somewhat of a positive step for Manziel, it hardly means anything is imminent. This was surely an exploratory meeting for Payton to see where Manziel is in his development/conditioning. There are other reports that there was “real interest” in Manziel from teams at the combine.
I’m sure curiosity levels could be peaked, but that doesn’t mean that a team is ready to offer him a contract.
