Saints cut Jairus Byrd
- Updated: March 1, 2017
The New Orleans Saints signed former Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd to a six-year, $54 million back in 2014. Chances are, they regret it.
Byrd missed 15 games in his first two seasons and was benched in 2016. That’s not good.
Ian Rapoport says that Byrd ’bout ta git his ass cut.
“Source: The #Saints will release big-money safety Jairus Byrd on first day of FA. Another top DB available,” Rapoport tweets.
So, in early March, Byrd is gone. He was a great safety at one point, but who knows at this point? He’ll get signed, but he ain’t commanding no $50+ million contract.
