Giants release Jennings
- Updated: February 13, 2017
The hatchet man is out in full force for the New York Giants today. After news surfaced that the team is releasing Victor Cruz, we find out that the running backs aren’t safe either.
According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the Giants are dropping the hammer on Rashad Jennings.
“The Giants are also releasing starting RB Rashad Jennings, per sources. He was set to count over $3M vs salary cap and will save them $2.5M,” Raanan tweeted.
It makes sense. Jennings was just never as good for the Giants as he was for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Always a decent player, but not a difference maker. The Giants might have played deeper into the postseason with a better running game.
If they can add a viable running back and No. 2 wide receiver in the offseason, the Giants could be trouble next year.
