Embiid to miss more time

On one hand, Philadelphia 76ers fans should be a little concerned that Joel Embiid has missed so much time lately with a knee injury. On the other hand, part of me wonders whether or not the organization feels like they got a great look at the future already when they went on a 10-3 tear a few weeks ago, and just wants to be overly cautious with the superstar-in-the-making.

Embiid has missed the team’s last six games, and the results have shown that. They are simply a different team when he plays. And according to Bob Cooney, he’s going to miss games seven and eight this week as well.

“Embiid went thru light workout today but out tonight and tomorrow in Orlando,” Cooney tweets.

That means they’ll lose against the San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic. It’s not a given, but it’s likely. And I can’t help but wonder if the Sixers are fine with. They were talking about playoffs at one point, but that’s looking less and less likely.

The Sixers know they aren’t ready to win yet, so they could be fine with just a bit more tanking.
