Bills hire McDermott as head coach

The Buffalo Bills haven’t won a playoff game in forever and they thought that was all going to change when they brought in Rex Ryan a few years ago. Well, that didn’t work out and they fired good ol’ Rex.

So began their head coaching search, and it didn’t last all that long.

The Bills have signed former Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott to fill the role.

I’m not sure how I feel about this for Bills fans. I don’t know that he can’t do the job, but he’s never been a head coach. People need to realize that being a coordinator and running the entire team are two different things.

I also wonder about him as defensive coordinator. Again, not that he can’t do it. But, when he was with the Eagles and had no talent on that side of the ball, the defense was awful. Then he goes to Carolina and he’s now a genius when he’s got guys like Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. I’ll be curious to see how he pans out.
