Continuity Browns switch to 4-3
- Updated: January 8, 2017
The Cleveland Browns have been preaching continuity lately as they attempt to turn the franchise around. However, after going 1-15 I can imagine it’s tough to think ‘stay the course.’
So, Hue Jackson just decided to overhaul the defense. He fired 3-4 defensive coordinator Ray Horton and just added 4-3 defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Wait…wha?
“I know what it looks like and I know what it feels like for everybody here,” Jackson Said Sunday. “‘Here are the Browns again changing out.’ But it is not about that. I am going to say it again, it is about trying to be the best we can be everywhere. I get what it feels like to everybody and I respect that, but at the same time, I think everybody would be disappointed in me if I did not as the leader make tough decisions that I think are going to get us to where we want to go to. It goes both ways so you are kind of damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I do not worry about that. I am worried about getting this organization, this football team and this coaching staff as good as I can get it, and I think that is my charge.”
You do know that’s completely different personnel, right? You do know that Williams is also not exactly a favorite around the NFL, right?
Hope Jamie Collins can play in a 4-3 because you just gave up a third-round pick for him. Ah…the Browns. Maybe they’ll get up to three wins next season.
