McCarthy out of House Speaker race
- Updated: October 8, 2015
Nope, this isn’t sports. You’ll live. House Republican Kevin McCarthy was all lined up to become Speaker of the House after John Boehner’s admission that he would be resigning from office.
Then, McCarthy openly bragged about the Benghazi hearings and their destruction of Hillary Clinton in the polls (even though, that’s not what they, you know, should be for).
That prompted quite a storm in the Republican party. And the pressure to remove himself from the race must have finally gotten to him, because McCarthy is stepping out of the race for Speaker of the House.
This doesn’t mean that Jason Chaffetz will automatically skate into the position, but he’s one possibility. I would have to say that it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be the next speaker, but we know it won’t be McCarthy. Moron.
