Why Teddy Bridgewater could slide in the draft

TeddyBridgewaterIt wasn’t all that long ago that Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was considered the No. 1 pick in this upcoming NFL Draft. A lot has changed over the last couple of months and it has nothing to do with all 32 teams being set at quarterback.

I mentioned a while back that Bridgewater’s Pro Day was considered by many to be not all that great. And keep in mind that these Pro Days are designed for players to look awesome. So, that’s not good.

Now, ESPN’s Chris “take this with a grain of salt” Mortensen is reporting the Bridgewater’s private workouts ain’t going so hot either. He says that these workouts “have also gone very shakily.”

Keep in mind it’s easier to workout for teams than it is to play in a regular NFL game. Oh, and it should also be noted that Bridgewater reportedly scored a 20 on the Wonderlic. That isn’t awful, but it’s not like Johnny Manziel’s reported 32.

Bridgewater could end up being this year’s Geno Smith. It’s easy for me to sit here and say this, but I’m well aware that it only takes one team to grab him. Would E.J. Manuel have been a first-round pick if the Buffalo Bills didn’t grab him? Tough to say, but it’s entirely possible that he would have dropped into the second round.
