Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez got in some hot water recently when his name was linked to the Biogensis lab that is known for distributing performance-enhancing drugs. While it seems to be true that he did indeed get some items from the clinic, none are on the banned substance list for MLB.
Gonzalez said all recent tests are clean and that he’s never taken any PED’s.
“Like I said before, I’ve never taken performance enhancing drugs and I never will,” Gonzalez said. “Two days after the story broke, I was tested for blood and urine. Both came out negative like I expected. Throughout my entire career, it has been like that. I look forward to handling this with MLB and putting this behind me, and I’m looking forward to the season.”
It seems that Gonzalez only received glutathione, intramuscular shots and amino acids from the clinic, and none of those are banned by the league.
