No charges for Crabtree
We mentioned previously that there were sexual assault allegations against San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree regarding in incident (or not an incident) in a hotel room following the team’s victory over the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs. We also passed along a report that those charges didn’t seem to have any merit.
And it seems like the don’t.
The district attorney’s office in San Francisco will not be pressing charges against Crabtree, which is great news for him and the 49ers.
“The San Francisco Police Department-Special Victims Unit completed and submitted a thorough investigation of the allegations against Michael Crabtree,” San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon said in a statement, via CSNBayArea.com. “Following a review of all the evidence, my office has determined that no charges will be filed against Michael Crabtree at this time.”
This doesn’t mean that he’s totally in the clear (civil charges could always be brought up), but it’s good to know that it’s behind him heading into the Super Bowl.
“We are pleased to learn of the San Francisco District Attorney’s announcement following a thorough review of the matter,” G.M. Trent Baalke said in a statement released by the team. “Michael and the team can now put this behind us and move forward.”
If this girl really did make this up – as we’ve said before – she should be subjected to the same charges that a man would face if they really did commit sexual assault.
