Celtics sign Jeff Green
Former Boston Celtic and Oklahoma City Thunder (that doesn’t really sound right, does it?) F Jeff Green missed all of last season. Was he nursing a sore knee or bitching out with an ailing wrist? Nope, he had heart surgery. Pretty good excuse, we’ll take it.
He averaged 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 32.4 minutes per game during the 2010-11 season. But, that was before he had to deal with an aortic aneurysm. Now, he has signed a deal that is supposedly a four-year, $36 million contract with the Celtics. Not bad, we’d say.
“We are thrilled to be able to have Jeff back with the Celtics,” said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations. “Jeff’s versatility on offense and ability to guard players out on the perimeter is something that we are looking forward to having on the court this season.”
“I actually feel a lot better than I did prior to the surgery,” Green said.
That’s good news for him and the Celtics. He was the fifth-overall pick in the 2007 draft, so he’s no bum.
“I cannot wait to get back out onto the court and help this team towards our goal of winning another championship for Boston,” said Green.
We wish him the best of luck. We hope he’s healthy.
