Bills pull the plug on Merriman

The Buffalo Bills have already paid LB/DE Shawne Merriman a $1 million bonus for being on the roster this offseason. So, one would think they are somewhat committed to keeping him around.

Not so.

Jay Glazer first reported and the Bills have since confirmed, that the team has released Merriman. He would have gotten an additional $4 million if they kept him around, and for what Merriman has been able to offer, that’s way too much money.

Merriman has appeared in just 12 games the last two seasons. Injuries have really taken a toll on him. In those 12 games, Merriman has just one sack and has shown next to no burst.

He’s probably got another tire-kicking before he’s out of the league.
