Red Sox “fielding inquiries” about Beckett
The Boston Red Sox are 10.5 games out of first place and mired in much with three other teams in the division not named the New York Yankees. Simply put, they ain’t going anywhere this year.
So, there have been rumors of them shipping starter Josh Beckett out of town. And WEEI reports that the team has “fielded some exploratory inquiries” about the right hander.
However, a source tells the radio station that there is “nothing close” at this point. It’s basically in the tire-kicking stages.
Beckett is 5-9 with a 4.57 ERA, so I can’t imagine anyone giving up the farm for him. We’ll see if talks heat up. The Rangers just lost Colby Lewis, so they are in the market for another arm.
