A’s cut Fuentes

No surprise here. The Oakland Athletics have released relief pitcher Brian Fuentes.

Fuentes was designated for assignment last week and since he’s still due $3 million this year, no one was biting on that contract. Especially because he’s been horrific this year.

Fuentes had a terrible 6.84 ERA through 25 innings this year and at 36-years old that probably won’t get better. Just a guess.

If the Phillies don’t at least kick his tires I’d be shocked. Their bullpen is one of the worst in MLB. Fuentes’ ERA would fit right in.
