Duncan and Spurs agree to three-year contract

Despite their star and team leader being 36-years old, the San Antonio Spurs still got awfully close to the NBA Finals this season. They had a 2-0 lead on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, only to see Durant and Co. wake up and polish them off.

So, it’s not time to blow it up for the Spurs. And it looks like they will stick with their core at least as it relates to Tim Duncan.

League sources tell Yahoo! Sports that the team and player have agreed upon a new three-year contract. They are still working out the details, but it looks like it’s fully guaranteed with a player option for the third year.

It’s believed to be in the neighborhood of Kevin Garnett’s three-year, $34 million deal that he just got. There is also a no-trade clause according to those sources.

Finally, Duncan will be able to buy that new bicycle he wants so damn much.
