Stars acquire Roy from Sabres

DerekRoy 300x221 Stars acquire Roy from SabresThis could end up being a good upside move for the Dallas Stars. According to the team’s official Twitter account, the Stars have acquired Derek Roy from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Steve Ott (douchebag) and Adam Pardy.

“BREAKING: The Dallas Stars have acquired center Derek Roy from Buffalo in exchange for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy. More details coming soon…” the team tweets.

Roy had his 2010-11 season marred by injuries, but he didn’t bounce back incredibly well this past year. He had 17 goals, which isn’t a disaster, but we think he’s a much better player than that. The new surroundings could do him some good.

Giving up Steve Ott shouldn’t be a big deal. At one point last year he was fifth in the NHL in faceoffs, and we know this because he told us on HBO’s “24/7.” He actually told Claude Giroux, who promptly won that faceoff and scored a goal.
