Halladay to come back just after All Star break?

RoyHalladay 300x199 Halladay to come back just after All Star break? The 2012 season is going terribly for the Philadelphia Phillies. Nothing is going their way. The lineup stinks, the bullpen is worse and the team has been hit with injuries and poor performances.

So, when they found out in late May that Roy Halladay would have a significant DL stint with a sore lat, it was just icing on the crap cake. Halladay was expected to be out until at least late July, but now it seems that he could be back earlier, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com.

“Halladay says everything going well. No soreness. Hopes to return shortly after all star break. ‪#PhilliesTalk,” Salisbury tweets.

Halladay started throwing bullpen sessions this past week and it seems that all went well. His injury would explain his poor start to the season. Not poor for a pitcher, but poor for Halladay, who is used to dominating. Halladay was 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA this year before getting injured. The sore lat probably explains why the velocity on his fastball had dipped.

At least, that’s what Phillies fans are hoping. We’ll know more when he comes off the DL.
