Sixers going after Jamal Crawford?
Portland Trailblazers guard Jamal Crawford is about to hit free agency. He has an opt-out clause in the two-year, $10 million contract that he signed in December. Oh, and he’s going to use it!
So, the Trailblazers would like to trade him before that happens. And a league source tells Comcast Northwest that the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and yes, even the Philadelphia 76ers, are going after Crawford.
The Sixers are about to let Lou Williams test the open market. He’s one of the few players that can create his own shot and provide instant offense, but he’s horrific on defense and is going to command a few bucks.
The Sixers don’t really have any “true” point guard. Yes, Jrue Holliday would fit that description, but they aren’t sold that he’s the guy. And they rotate those guys so much with people like Evan Turner at times acting as PG, so they could just throw Crawford in that mix. Why not?
That said, I don’t think he’ll get moved to the Sixers.
