Aaron Berry rocks the party
It was only a day or so ago that I was reading an article about the high hopes of Detroit Lions CB Aaron Berry. He’s a bigger cornerback and has a chance to win a starting spot this year with the departure of Eric Wright.
We don’t know exactly what it takes to win the starting job in Detroit, but we’re guessing that getting arrested for DUI isn’t helping. According to ABC 7 in Detroit, Berry was arrested at 4:45 AM for suspicion of DUI, two counts of causing accidental damage to an unattended vehicle or property and two counts of failure to stop and give information to law enforcement and render aid.
Way to go, Aaron!
That is the sixth time someone from the Detroit Lions has been arrested this year. Sixth. Granted Nick Fairley and Mikel “Row the Boat” Leshoure were responsible for four of them combined.
The Lions issued this statement, that OTR got a hold of during its editing process:
“We are extremely disappointed in the reports involving what seems like all of our goddamned players Aaron Berry and the incident in Pennsylvania this past weekend.
“This is not the standard of behavior we expect from any member of our organization despite the fact that it just keeps happening over and over. Remember the naked coach in the drive thru?. We have strongly and repeatedly emphasized the need to be hammered accountable on and off the field, which makes this bullshit incident with Aaron all the more disappointing. We will have further comments regarding this situation when appropriate.”
Berry also issued a statement, which OTR also obtained an earlier edited copy of.
“I want to offer a sincere apology to my crew that was at the club with me doin’ they thing the Lions organization, Lions fans, Prince the coaches and most of all my teammates for my actions this past weekend. This is not the example I want to set for young people and it’s certainly not what my team and coaches expect from me.
“I promise to do everything in my pants power to make sure this never happens again or at the very least I don’t get caught.
“I understand these are just words and it will be my future cocktails actions that ultimately will speak for me.”
These previously edited documents were not easy to get a hold of, but at OTR, thasswhuhwedooo. You’re welcome.
