Stuart signs three-year deal with Sharks
Last year, defenseman Brad Stuart earned $3.75 million with the Detroit Red Wings. However, he really wanted to be closer to his family in California, so it looks like he’ll be taking a mild pay cut to do so.
The Red Wings traded his rights and Andrew Murray to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a seventh-round pick, and the Sharks have now inked him to a three-year deal worth roughly $3.6 million per season, according to TSN‘s Darren Dreger.
“Stuart agrees to 3 year contract with Sharks at $3.6 per. Takes less to sign with a team that’s a good fit,” Dreger tweets.
This can’t help a Red Wings defense that also lost all-world blue liner Nicklas Lidstrom to retirement a couple months ago. But, they are the Red Wings and they will find talent somewhere that comes in and plays their behinds off. It’s what they do.
