Dodgers and Ethier reach five-year extension
It’s good to be the Los Angeles Dodgers these days. No, not if you are a Dodgers owner, but if you are a fan or player on the team (assuming all of the pay checks clear).
They have the best record in baseball and now have just extended one of their stars.
“The #Dodgers have reached 5-year, $85 million deal with Ethier that includes $17.5M vesting option, making deal worth potential $100 million,” tweets Bob Nightengale.
Eithier is hitting .287 with 10 HR’s this season and his contract has been the subject of conversation for a little while now.
“I expect to be here a long time, and both sides have expressed that,” Ethier said last week. “They want me here, and I want to be here. … Obviously, this is a good fit. It’s where I want to be and a great opportunity to play with these guys who have put a lot of hard work in, and I hope we continue what we’re doing right now.”
Looks like he will be there a while.
