Carpenter just about ready for mound work
The St. Louis Cardinals have been without three of their brightest stars from previous years in 2012, but have still managed to continue winning. Gone are Albert Pujols (Angels), Lance Berkman (injury) and Chris Carpenter (hurt too). But, they could be getting some of those guys back soon. And when I say “getting some of those guys back soon,” I mean just Carpenter and he probably won’t be back all that soon.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Carpenter is scheduled to throw off of a mound this week. He’s been rehabbing his ailing shoulder that is linked to a nerve disorder.
“Where I’m at right now compares to where I’m at when I start preparing myself to go to spring training,” said Carpenter. “I’ve been doing everything: strengthening my upper body, running, everything. I feel great.”
There is no specific timetable for his return to the team, but given that Jaime Garcia is out for two months, the Cardinals could sure use him.
