Jackson wants a new contract in St. Louis?
The St. Louis Rams don’t have a lot of good players. If they did, they wouldn’t be drafting so high, so often. One of the few good players they do have is Steven Jackson, a nasty, nasty running back. And apparently, he’s aware of how good he is, because according to Mike Lombardi, he wants a new contract.
“The problem with Steven Jackson is he wants to redo his contract,” Lombardi said. “He’s not happy where he is. … I would suspect that the Rams would (draft) the running back as quickly as they could.”
He’s talking about Alabama’s Trent Richardson. Jackson is only 28-years old, but has eight years of wear and tear on him. And, when it goes it goes. He’s already due base salaries of $7 million in 2012 and 2013.
Jackson could possibly be trade fodder on draft day if the Rams are able to somehow land Richardson. After all, the took Jackson when they still had Marshall Faulk on the roster back in 2004.
