Quenneville fined $10,000 for comments on refs
This is hardly a shocker. I think we all knew something like this was coming the minute he opened his mouth. Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was absolutely livid following his team’s Game 3 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. And rightfully so.
It wasn’t just the loss. Raffi Torres absolutely leveled Marian Hossa to the point where he had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher and sent to the hospital. Oh, and he didn’t have the puck. And there was no penalty called.
So, yeah, he was pissed.
“I had a hard time. I saw exactly what happened,” he said. “How four guys missed it tonight, it was hard. The refereeing tonight was a disgrace.”
Yep, that last line is the one that did it. Professional sports leagues tend to not appreciate it when you publicly criticize officiating. And thusly, they have lightened Mr. Quenneville’s wallet by $10,000.
We all saw that one coming.
