Cowboys have discussed trading Felix Jones?
Let’s be honest, Felix Jones has just not been worth the first-round pick that the Dallas Cowboys spent on him back in 2008. He gets hurt all the time and just isn’t a load carrier. He’s rarely been the home-run threat they thought he could be either.
So we shouldn’t be too surprised that Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com lists Jones as a roster bubble guy heading into 2012.
Watkins thinks that Jones is a candidate to be cut if they can find a better back in the middle rounds of the draft. They surely want DeMarco Murray to be the guy, but he gets hurt too so they’ll need some more depth.
What’s more, Watkins says that the Cowboys have already had discussions about trading Jones. One would have to think that they’ll move him before or during the draft if they can, and just let him go if they can’t find a trade partner.
Jones might benefit greatly from a fresh start anyway.
