Pujols now visiting the Marlins?

AlbertPujols 300x199 Pujols now visiting the Marlins? We passed along a report earlier in the week that the Florida Marlins were hosting Jose Reyes and could possibly offer him a big, three-year contract. In that report, it was mentioned that the Marlins were “trying to cultivate the Latino market” as they prepare to open up their new retractable roof stadium.

Well, if that’s what they are trying to do, then it would be a good thing to add Albert Pujols. A source tells MLB.com that the free agent slugger is expected to meet with the Marlins in the next few days.

The 31-year old is free to speak to whoever he wants now that he and the St. Louis Cardinals were unable to come to an agreement.

The Marlins, meanwhile, have seats to fill in that new stadium and it looks like they are taking the necessary steps to do so. They already have Gaby Sanchez at first base but…c’mon. It’s Albert Pujols. Unless you have a Ryan Howard or Mark Teixeira, you’re probably interested.

It’s not known, according to MLB.com, if the Cardinals and Pujols have had any kind of substantial talks since the World Series ended.
